Rama's killing of Ravana symbolises the victory of bad over good. In another legend, Goddess Durga killed the powerful demon Mahishasura on this day. In both tales, Dussehra signifies courage, strength, and righteousness always win over the darkest forces in life.

Spiritual Significance: Victory Over Inner Demons

Apart from its mythological significance, Dussehra has a deeper spiritual significance. It gives a message to remove negativity from the minds, bodies, and souls. The ten-headed demon Ravana symbolises the ego and other vices that can harm us, such as anger, lust, greed, and pride. On the other hand, Lord Rama represents goodness, virtue, and our true self. Goddess Durga's win over Mahishasura symbolises the end of ignorance and the beginning of wisdom. Mahishasura, the demon who terrorised heaven and earth, represents the negative forces of ignorance, arrogance, and uncontrolled desires that reside within us. His defeat at the hands of Goddess Durga teaches that wisdom, courage, and discipline are necessary to overcome the inner obstacles that restrict personal and spiritual growth.
